Israel Martinez
Director of Bands Israel Martinez, originally from Mexico City, Mexico, grew up in Vero Beach, Florida. As a Vero Beach “native”, Mr. Martinez attended Storm Grove Middle School, under the direction of Sean Srigley, and graduated from Vero Beach High School, under the direction of James Sammons, Page Howell, and Brandon Putzke.
Mr. Martinez has been a music educator and performer for 5 years and is very excited to begin his first year of teaching back where it all started! Mr. Martinez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with a Certificate in Developmental Disabilities and a focus on Wind Band Conducting from the Florida State University, which he studied with Chandler Wilson and Patrick Dunnigan. Mr. Martinez was also an avid performer in the FSU Wind Ensemble, FSU Symphonic Band, FSU Marching Chiefs, and highly involved in other FSU College of Music programs such as the FSU Tri-State Honor Band Festival. Mr. Martinez was also a member of the FSU Trumpet Studio, where he studied with Christopher Moore, Julia Bell, and Angela King. Mr. Martinez is an active member of the Florida Band Masters Association, Florida Music Eduactors Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and has also performed with the Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra and the Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble. Mr. Martinez is also freelance performer around the Vero Beach community and teaches private lessons to both middle and high school students. Mr. Martinez currently resides in Vero Beach with his family and his dog, Ben. Mr. Martinez loves the outdoors, the beach, music, and cooking. |
